Oct Hero of the Month Rick Korth, owner of Tonto Silkscreen, is being honored as a HERO of Public Education for the Payson Unified School District. Rick does a significant amount of business with the District, but he also works with a variety of school groups when it comes to printing t-shirts and other clothing items. Rick always works to create a quick turn around for the items that need to be printed. At the same time he also goes the extra mile to help the District out. For the past two years he has donated extra t-shirts with a variety of school logos for opening kick off events and for students part of the program this year.

Another example of how Rick helps out our students can be demonstrated by a recent project with RCMS. The advisory classes at RCMS created their own t-shirts and Rick helped the project in several ways. Each class created a logo, a quote and picked a color for the t-shirts. Rick worked with the students to help each class with the creation of the t-shirt, but also allowed each class to send two students from each class to screen print all the shirts for their class. This project is helping to create a positive culture for the classes and the school as a whole and Rick's involvement made it that much more meaningful for the students.

T-shirts and other clothing are an important part of creating a sense of pride for our district, schools, teams and clubs. Over the years Rick has supported our students, staff and schools through a variety of ways. He is active in the community groups that provide scholarships for our students. It is all the big and little things that Rick does that makes a positive difference for our students and exemplifies why Rick is a HERO of public education.
